I am working on gluing a back on an archtop electric I am working on and I came up with a nifty little device for tightening up all those spool clamps around my mold. It's a 1" piece of hardwood dowel with a 1/4" hole bored straight through the center. The business end is slotted and relieved slightly to grip those wing nuts. I CA'd in a bit of 1/4" drill rod into the other end to chuck it up in my hand drill. I also dowsed the business end with thin CA just for good measure. She works great!! The drill is spinning in the second shot. Cheers!! Louis |

Nice idea. Looks like you could set the torque control on your drill to set clamping pressure too. I've always used my air gun - it's silly fast, but you have to keep good aim and doesn't work well if the thread aren't clean. |

Hahahah!!! I love innovation!!!!!! The amount of time it takes to get those spool clamps on by hand...24 per guitar...by that time, the glue has dried!!! |
